 Tadi lalu FYP kat tiktok aku. Video tu from Amerika. Content creator tu mentioned Electrical Engineer is the highest paid job. Lebih kurang $10K sebulan or $120K per annum.

Aku scroll comment² kat video tu..Yelah..nak tau jugak berapa lama experience as Electrical Engineer kat Amerika tu boleh dapat gaji $10K sebulan.

Jawapannya: Average 5 tahun.

.

Next..kawasan mana kat Amerika yg bayar gaji Electrical Engineer $10K? 

.

Jawapannya: Ada mcm² tempat lah dlm comment tu..Tapi kebanyakkan kata "Texas".

.

Ooo..Texas..Bandar Oil and Gas..Memang lah bayar mahal.Sebab Texas tu serba serbi mahal.

Ok, berapa pulak gaji Electrical Engineer kat Malaysia?

Ikut Jobstreet, average Electrical Engineer kat Malaysia dibayar gaji RM3.6K-RM5.3K.

.

Plus Jobstreet kata TOP TWO bandar paling tinggi bayar Electrical Engineer adalah Penang (RM4.7K) dan KL (RM4.4K).

.

Hahaha..Aku tau mesti ada yg convert RM4.7K tu ke USD..Dah lah..tak yah nk convert² sgt lah! Memang gaji kita murah! 😂😂

Sebab apa murah? Sebab "Mentaliti industry kita semua nak murah!"

Sebab apa aku kata mcm tu?

Kalau issue tender project. The lowest bidder win!

Aku pernah lah experience benda ni..After technical evaluation...Mana² bidder yg fully complied technical tu. Maka kita proceed pulak for commercial evaluation..

.

Bila bukak je commercial proposal masing²..

.

1st bidder quote RM200mil

2nd Bidder RM400mil

3rd Bidder RM405mil.

Disclaimer: Ni contoh figure je,bukan figure sebenar. Kang ada yg boleh detect project mana pulak..hahaha.Aku just nk bgtau, walaupun semua bidders full compliance on technical. Ada HUGE COMMERCIAL gap between lowest Bidder and other Bidders.

Top Management dah senyum...Instruction dah diberi: "PROCEED WITH LOWEST BIDDER"

Aku as technical evaluator leader sangat² tak puas hati!!

.

Mana mungkin harga "the lowest Bidder" tu boleh separuh dari org lain. Sedangkan dia kata dia comply semua technical requirement!

.

So,aku highlight kat Management. Something not right somewhere, we shall do deep due dilligence checking on the lowest bidder technical proposal!

Management kata: Apa nak di deep due dilligence lagi???Dalam compliance sheet kata semua dia dah comply!

.

Aku still kata "NO".

.

Management kata "OK, do your way".

.

Aku pun arrange techical clarification meeting dengan the lowest bidder.

.

Team aku dig 1-1 barang yg dorang supply..Tengok sequence planning macam mana, machineries apa yg dorg pakai..bla². Pendek kata tanya line by line apa yg ada dalam technical requirement..Memang detail habis!

Long story cut short..

.

Korek punya korek, drill punya drill..Last² tau lah aku, barang² yg dorg quote semua barang cap ayam. China mari, India mari..Brand tak pernah dengar pun ada..

.

Proposed "Project Team"? tak capable.

.

So,as technical evaluator leader. Apa yg aku buat? Of course lah aku advise Management "NOT RECOMMENDED".

.

Tapi Management kata...Alah..proceed je lah..Kalau dorang submit variation order pun, tak kan lah sampai 100% a.k.a another RM200mil? Paling² pun 20%-30% je daripada orginal contract value.

.

Aku cakap: This is time bomb..Big problem will happen during execution..

.

Long story cut short lagi sekali..The tender awarded to "not recommended" bidder tadi..

.

And as expected...During project execution..Project jahanam, delay kemain lama. Lepas tu defect kemain banyak..huhu..

.

Tiba lah dlm 1 meeting. Aku pun menyelit.." I told you already Boss..This is what we call you pay peanut, you get monkey"

.

Boss aku punya maraaaahhh!!! "How dare you can say like that!!!" 

.

Mujur tak dibalingnya kusi meeting kat muka aku..🤣🤣

.

Kenangan betul.Hahahaha😂

.

But project is project. We need to manage it. Ada problem kita solve..Bukan lari dari problem..Finally, project tu pun completely delivered..

.

Anyway,tu baru tender punya cerita...

.

Kalau cerita procurement pulak??1st time beli mintak discount kaw² ke supplier. 2nd time beli mintak lagi discount on top of discounted price masa 1st time beli dulu..

.

Jem kepala bila aku tgk benda ni..Nak discount tu,discount lah...Tapi jgnlah sampai "BUNUH" supplier!

.

Pastu mentaliti product made in Malaysia, WAJIB kena murah. Wajib ye, aku ulang WAJIB!!!!

.

Tapi Made in USA and Made in England 10x ganda mahal pun tak pe. Padahal standard compliance sama.

.

With mentality

"The lowest Bidder win"

"Buang harga,win project 1st,manage all shit later"

"We only do easy job,let others nation do the difficult one"

.

Kau rasa lagi 10tahun, kita boleh bayar Engineer kita setaraf Engineer Amerika tak???

.

Renung²kan lah...

.
