Mohon lihat paper di atas Figure 3. 

Di situ ditunjukkan siri tindakbalas bagaimana aldehyde group bertindakbalas dengan kumpulan primary amine dari protein dan membentuk kumpulan imine.

 Dalam lateks getah asli (NR Hevea) ada 1-2% protein. Jadi apabila dimasukkan aldehyde ke dalam lateks, maka aldehyde akan react dgn kumpulan R-NH2 dari amino acid  protein dan membentuk imine melalui Maillard Reaction tadi.

Maka lateks akan hilang keseimbangan dan turut coagulate.

Ringkasan

Protein-NH2+ H2C=O --> Protein-N=CH2 + H2O

Protein dalam lateks berfungsi sebagai protective layer bagi rubber particles.
