TIGA PEGAWAI SPRM SAMUN KLIA DILUCUT TUGAS

Rabu September 21, 2011

MACC MEN HELD OVER ROBBERY
Rabu September 21, 2011
KUALA LUMPUR: Three Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers (MACC), including an assistant commissioner have been arrested for allegedly robbing a money changer of US$300,000 (RM900,000) inside the satellite building at KL International Airport (KLIA).
The three, said to be attached to the Putrajaya special operations division, were arrested on Tuesday by Sepang police following a report lodged by the money changer that he was robbed by them on Sept 15. In a statement, MACC confirmed the arrests, saying that the three had been suspended and stripped of their investigation powers.
Sources familiar with the investigations said the three went to KLIA to investigate alleged money laundering by several money changers involving millions of ringgit. They said the MACC officers spotted one of the money changers and approached him before asking him to open his bag containing hundreds of thousands of ringgit in foreign currency.
They were alleged to have taken part of the money before allowing the money changer to board his flight to Singapore. Sources said all three were picked up by police and identified by the money changer during a parade.
They said that police had obtained a recording of the alleged incident. It is not immediately known if any money was recovered from the three who have since been remanded to facilitate investigations.
